- **** NEW FEATURES ****
-
- ==> Outstanding Poll Limits
-
- The poller can now be instructed on a mailbox-by-mailbox basis to
- limit the number of outstanding polls to a number between 3 and 10.
- This feature will prevent your mail system queues from filling up
- with polls when a remote site is not responding. A new mailbox
- status, "Disabled", is used to indicate when the poll limit has been
- reached. The mailbox can then be re-enabled manually, or will
- automatically re-enable when the most recent poll is answered.
-
- ==> "Returned Poll" Polling Method
-
- The poller can now be instructed on a mailbox-by-mailbox basis to
- accept a returned copy of the poll message as a valid response
- instead of requiring an echo message. This feature lets you poll
- remote sites without requiring an echo at that site. NOTE: This
- polling method does not have the same level of confidence as a
- positive acknowledgment (i.e. a real echo). Baranof Software
- recommends using normal polling for highest confidence. Please
- refer to the MailCheck Monitor Supplement for more information.
-
- ==> Windows Monitor
-
- The monitor provides access to the new poller features listed above
- through the "Advanced Polling" dialog accessed from the Mailbox
- Information dialog, and through the new "Re-enable" command on the
- Mailbox menu and Mailbox Information dialog.
-
- The monitor has a new command, "New Copy", that will let you create
- a new mailbox entry based on an existing mailbox. This makes it
- more convenient to enter several mailboxes with similar polling
- parameters.
-
- More complete information about the new features can be found in the
- MailCheck Monitor Supplement shipped with the product.
-
- The monitor can now launch user-defined Custom Notification programs
- when status changes occur for mailboxes or the poller. These
- programs permit you to perform special tasks when a status change
- occurs, for example, you can page a different person for each
- mailbox.
